From the River to the Sea: Unpacking the Slogan That's Shaping Israel's Crisis

Latest information we are gathering with regard to the unprovoked attack against Israel. One aspect that is very disconcerting that Bible believing Christians and all rational people ought to be aware of is the narrative that is being foisted upon the public. This is infiltrating into our culture with anti-Israel marches in the streets of New York City, Florida and throughout Europe. It is even coming from some of the far left in the halls of our own congress.

Recently, the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Group issued a statement regarding the 260 young people killed, lying in their own blood, at a concert in the desert in southern Israel. The report indicated that this was a joint statement signed by 27 different Harvard organizations, including Amnesty International.

It blames Israel for the massacres:

“We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence. The apartheid regime is the only one to blame. Israeli violence has structured every aspect of Palestinian existence for 75 years. We call on the Harvard community to take action to stop the ongoing annihilation of Palestinians.”

Alan Dershowitz, retired Harvard law professor emeritus, said that Harvard has been propagandized (this is part of the narrative mentioned above) by anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, anti-Zionist professors, administrators and speakers for years. One speaker in particular (sad to say) was Norman Finklestein, who said that while these tragedies are taking place, it warms his heart to see these women being raped, children being murdered, young people being handcuffed and shot through the head — all of that and not a word from the president of Harvard.

You should be aware. What do you expect when professors and speakers are allowed to propagandize students? The terrorist's motive is to rid the land of every single Jew. The mantra of Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Fatah is: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

What river and what sea? That is the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

What is happening is horrific, and I’m afraid it will not end soon. In fact, this may be the beginning of a war that will expand to become more regional, with Israel having to defend itself on multiple fronts.

What is our role? It is high time for the church to wake up and stand with Israel. Never hold your peace. Be watchmen on the wall. We know how the story ends. God will be triumphant, and He will fulfill His promises to His people, Israel.

For Zion's sake, I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake, I will not be quiet, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch. (Isaiah 62:1)

That does not relieve us of our responsibility, as we look forward to that day.

Pray for Israel.

Pray for its leaders.

Pray that Jewish people start to look to the Lord as their help.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)
