A Better Vaccine Is Coming
I hope for healing. This year has gone mad and if there is any hope of a return to normal I'm all for it. With talks of companies getting ready to release a vaccine promised to be 95% effective, my reading and thoughts this morning are fixed on a better vaccine. 100% efficacy to heal the nations.
This year has made me long for the Kingdom and a better King to come, now more than ever. "On earth as it is in heaven." I've always known the gap between heaven and earth was great, but never has that gap been wider than how it feels now. But it won't always be like this. That's not my promise, it is the promise of God from the book of Revelation.
Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. Revelation 22:1-2
Water of life flowing down Main St. A great image. One tree with twelve crops of fruit. New crops each month. And the leaves are the medicine. I'll take it all. Can we "Operation: Warp Speed" our way there?
Until then, we heal. We repair what we can in this ruptured world.
There is a connection between our own personal healing and the healing of this earth. As we heal and bring healing to one another, we are doing a part in bringing Kingdom to earth. It is in our own brokenness that we break. Hurt people, hurt people. Right? And with our own self-inflicted hurt we spread hurt to others. What we see happening in our country right now through division and violence is a product exactly what our Enemy is up to in this world.
"Your enemy is the great divider. His most poisonous work takes place at the level of fragmentation, dividing families, churches, and fomenting racial hatred. He uses pain and suffering to create deep divisions within your being. He traumatizes human beings, then separates them from the earth that could bring about their healing. Your life has become cut off from the Garden you were meant to flourish in. Nature heals. God has ordained that in the new earth it is river water that brings you life and leaves that are used for healing." - John Eldredge
I want to be aware of what is happening in this world, but long for the world to come. There is something about this promise and yearning for what is to come that helps to contextualize our current sadness. There is a better healing to come. There is a better King to come. Until then, may we find healing in Him.
